Wesleyan University Men's Hockey Team Wins Depsite Loss on Februrary 16th

As usual, the Wesleyan University Men's Hockey Team played an exciting game against The Trinity Bantams on Friday, Feburary 16, at 7 p.m. at the Spurrier Snyder Rink. The indoor rink holds 1,500 spectators and has a snack bar too. There was a large crowd that came to see this game. The rink was constructed in 1970 for boththe men and women's hockey teams. Local high schools use the rink for hockey games like Cheshire and Xavier High. It is also utilized by local hockey programs for adults. The rink is located in the Freeman Athletic Center 161 Cross Street in Middletown, Connecticut

Both Wesleyan and Trintiy have some good hockey players so competition was fierce in the February 16th game. The Bantams made a goal in the last quarter that tied the game. The won with the 3-2 overtime win in the last segment . Wesleyan beat the Trinity Bantams the following night in another match 2-1 on Februrary 17th.

The Wesleyan Cardinals are scheduled to play in the NESCAC Tournament on February 23, and March 2 and 3. The locations and times are yet to be announced. These will be the final games of the season. The season starts in mid November and runs until early March. The team has four coaches. Chris Potter head ice hockey coach has been with the team 10 years. Jim Langlois assistant coach has been the team almost 29 years. Jon Bellonio and Jim Panczykowski are also assistant coaches.

Spring sports at Wesleyan include baseball, tennis, rowing or crew, lacrosse, softball, and track and field. For times consult the website.

Sporting events are a great way to introduce kids interested in the sport to the game. A perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening with middle or high school kids.
