Wendy Williams starts crying about Whitney Houston on ‘The Wendy Williams Show'

Wendy Williams’ reputation among her fans is that she’s open and honest—a regular, relatable person—so it shouldn’t really come as a surprise when Wendy started crying on her daytime talk show when discussing Whitney Houston’s death and former drug use.

What seemed to cause Wendy to cry was that she saw herself in Whitney Houston.  They’re both the same age, and they’re both had trouble removing themselves from the drug scene.  So when Whitney died over the weekend, it hit Wendy had on a personal level.

"Whitney and I, same age, and both plagued with the demon of substance abuse," Williams said, fighting through tears. "It's been almost 15 years since I smoked last from a crack pipe," she continued. "It's been almost 15 years since I waited on Jerome Avenue on the Bronx for my drugs."
