Wendy's its making its first foray into the box office business with the release of its short film 'L'Estrella de la Toscana (The Star of Tuscany). No you won't see this film at the Cannes Film Festival with a multitude of A listers lining up to see it or coming soon to a theater near you. On the contrary the short feature film is dedicated to the all new Tuscan Chicken Ciabatta from Wendy's and will be released online.
Featuring a quirky cast of characters like Don Carlo the villain and Lucia the dangerous vixen, this short nine minute film is inspired by 1960s Italian cinema, subtitles and all! 'L'Estrella de la Toscana borrows its cinematic aesthetics from such famed Italian directors like Federico Fellini (La Dolce Vita) and Bernardo Bertolucci (Last Tango in Paris) with its dreamy fantastical imagery and colorful cinematic style.
With the release of the trailer for the short film Wendy's is asking its fans to write the subtitles for the short film that is broken up into three acts for a total duration of nine minutes. Using their social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, Wendy's will post pictures on their pages and ask for fan submissions for the subtitles. The funniest ones will make the final cut of the Italian film that will be released in its entirety later on this month.
