Well Armed, winner of the $6,000,000 Dubai World Cup in March 2009, is recuperating from surgery at co-owner Bill Casner's farm in Flower Mound.  A bone chip was removed from the 6-year-old Tiznow gelding's ankle.

In August, 2009, Well Armed made his first debut since returning to the states at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack. In his race he placed a disappointing last.  Soon after the last place finish, Well Armed was found to have a small chip in his left front ankle.  Well Armed was sent to a clinic near Solvang, California, where the chip was discovered.

Well Armed, trained by Eoin Harty, was laid up with a fractured pelvis after finishing eleventh in the 2006 UAE Derby in Dubai.   It was serious enough that the vets wanted to put him down. Being one of co-owner’s favorite horses, Bill nursed him back to health and Well Armed retuned to racing in 2007.

Well Armed’s 2009 trip to Dubai was shown in an episode of Jockeys on Animal Planet with his jockey Aaron Gryder.  Well Armed is just over to $5 million dollar mark in current earnings and has won seven of 23 career starts.
