In the past Jacksonville has been fortunate enough to have been on the route for quite a number of larger touring groups like the Vans Warped Tour, but often these gigantic promotions cater to a different genre other than metal. With markets like Orlando and Tampa it is difficult to convince Ozzy and company to drop in once a year for his metal-driven sideshow, Ozzfest.
So Jacksonville has answered to the calling of the metal populous with this year's Welcome to Rockville.
On April 29th, 2012 at Metro Park, Jacksonville kicks it in to high gear with a day long affair that will highlight acts such as Korn, Evanescence, Five Finger Death Punch, Lacuna Coil, and Trivium. There are also several other bands that will be blistering the stage for a solid day that we can only hope matches and or exceeds the success and enthusiasm of last year's party.
This event will be worth marking on your calendar if you are the one that is always complaining about how, "...no GOOD shows ever come to Jacksonville." Dust off your boots, find your old Sepultura shirt and get down to the Metro Park on the 29th and support the Jacksonville metal music scene.
