The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is hosting their 66th Annual Business Aviation Conference October 22 – 24, 2013 at the Las Vegas Convention Center along with a static display at the Henderson Executive Airport this week. The event is one of the most important business aviation events of the year, where exhibitors form around the world will showcase services and products to operators, buyers, and key decision makers of the world’s leading business aviation insiders.
The NBAA is based in Washington DC however, they have a fantastic history. The NBAA was informally established in the spring of 1946 at the Wings Club in the Biltmore Hotel in New York City; by 13 men that saw the need to promote and represent the interest of business aircraft operators, since the commercial airlines and pilots all had representing bodies.
The first official meeting was September 24, 1947 held at the Biltmore in NYC in Room 101, named the Corporation Aircraft Owners Association then later renamed the National Business Aircraft Association (1953) to represent the national audience, then at the 50th Anniversary the NBAA was once again renamed the National Business Aviation Association, as we know it today, lending a broad scope branding appellation. The NBAA moved to Washington DC in February 1951. For the full history please visit the NBAA History page.
The conferences have grown from its group of 13 at its founding in 1947 to over 25,000 attendees expected to visit Las Vegas this week, and is now an International must attend event to socialize and network with key members of several business aviation companies globally represented here in Las Vegas this week. According to the NBAA the Las Vegas Convention will host 134 exhibiting companies from outside of the United States, from 23 countries.
The event also offers students from middle school to college level an opportunity to meet with aviation professionals to learn how to develop a career in aviation.
The event never fails to amaze. There will be several programs on safety, management, financing, operations and major announcements. Every year the NBAA rolls out an amazing list of speakers that cover every aspect of the industry from all of the key industries that play a major part in the makeup of the business aviation industry, and NBAA2013 list of presenters carry on that tradition.
We will see you at the NBAA2013!
