The International Indian Film Academy kicked off its weekend celebration here in Tampa with style. Last night Curtis Hixon Park, an open air facility right in Downtown Tampa, was the host of the first of many parties. The concert was a great way to kickoff the festivities and Tampa natives as well as guests who have been arriving the last couple of days seemed to be enjoying it.
Anil Kapoor steeped onto the stage and the crowd went wild. This Indian actor who starred in 'Slumdog Millionaire' brought the crowd to its feet and from there on the joint was jumping. This free event was the best way to show the Tampa Bay Area what they are in for the next couple of days. With food, dance, and song Tampa was shown that India knows how to throw a good party. The food was to die for. The flavors and taste were enough for everyone to enjoy. The dance and song brought everyone onto their feet and the whole 4,500 in attendance knew that they were going to enjoy this celebration.
You see Tampa has never had such a grand spectacle grace our city. This is big international news and the world is going to be watching. The weather is fantastic with no rain in sight and temps in the low to mid 80's. This city is going to rock.
The main event of the evening was DJ Ravi Drums also known as Ravi Jakhotia. He graduated locally from Chamberlain High School and this young man made the crowd go wild. This was an evening to remember. Tampa has seen its share of events that can compare but Bollywood puts us on the International stage and if last night shows a glimpse to what is store for the next couple of days then we are going to have one great event.
There is a concert this evening at the Tampa Convention Center along with work shops geared towards acting at local Universities. Tampa also has the beaches to the one side and Orlando and Disney World to the other. So anyone wanting to come down and enjoy the festivities, I say pack your bag and come have some fun.
