NDTV Gadgets reported on January 29, 2013 that Apple released the latest update to their smartphone device software in the form of iOS update 6.1. The Apple iOS software was last updated in November 2012. This new free update brings a few welcome updates that Apple smartphone device users were hungering for.
Apple device users around the world are now able to access LTE support for their devices, which is a major update to iOS 6.1 that users will love. This increased LTE support brings lighting fast Safari web browsing, smooth Face Time video calls, quicker access to iCloud services, and split second downloads from the iTunes store.
For United States users, this iOS 6.1 update brings the ability to purchase Fandango movie tickets through Apple's voice concierge service Siri. In addition iCloud users will be able to download individual songs to iOS devices. Apple states that these two updates will help users continually stay connected on the go.
The Apple Maps confusion can now be officially called over, with this latest update from iOS 6.1. The update does include a fully redesigned Apple Maps application. It contains exclusive Apple designed cartography, turn-by-turn navigation, and flyover view. Apple states that this update to Apple Maps will reestablish users' faith in the app and give Google Maps heavy competition.
There are also minor updates to the playback lock screen, Safari, and Apple's Pass Book software. Apple iOS 6.1 operating system is the most popular system out there with over 300 million Apple iOS smartphone device users.
