This ski and snowboard season in the Twin Cities is coming to a close, but it's not too early to start thinking of the next one.
Welch Village is inviting people to come to its SkiLink Learning Center (ski school) this Saturday, March 9, for an informational meeting on becoming an instructor next season. The event runs from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
According to the resort, you will be able to "observe kid’s lesson programs, meet staff, ask questions, and learn the basics of instructor scheduling and general expectations."
As an instructor, you'll get a season pass, plus a modest hourly wage. But the rest of the compensation may be just as important, if not more so. Going through the steps to become an instructor will help you better understand your own riding or skiing (and make it better), as well as improve your presentation and leadership skills.
There's no commitment attached to attending the meeting, so get out for one last good day on the snow, and see where you might end up next season.
