Weird Al's "Tacky" video has taken the internet by storm. The last time people were this excited about a music video was probably when Pharrell released his upbeat "Happy" video, which is quite the coincidence since that's exactly the song that Weird Al is mocking in his clever parody. Of course, it's all good clean fun when the talented accordion player takes a popular song and makes it uniquely his own.
According to a July 14, 2014 report by Entertainment Weekly, Weird Al's "Tacky" video is just one of eight videos that he is releasing on consecutive days to commemorate one very special occasion: the release of his new album, which is called Mandatory Fun. There's nothing more fun than something that's mandatory. Right?
To add to the mandatory fun, Weird Al invited a cast of characters that reads like a who's who of A-list celebrities to help out with his "Tacky" video. Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black all appear in the video, wearing outfits that could probably best be described as--what else?--tacky.
What kind of things are tacky by Weird Al's standards? The song lyrics make a case for posting pictures of meals on the internet, wearing stripes with plaid, glittery UGGs, sequined Crocs, name-dropping, twerking and taking selfies at a funeral, among other questionable activities.
