Chicken – chances are it’s your go-to protein for dinner. And if you’re fresh out of ideas for how to cook your bird, Weight Watchers is dishing out 250 recipes in its new “Weight Watchers Ultimate Chicken Cookbook” (St. Martin’s Griffin, $29.99), an oversized hardcover book loaded with dishes for nearly every meal of the day (couldn’t find any breakfast chicken).
The book, which features lots of color photos, has Weight Watchers PointsPlus values as well as complete nutritional information if you’re not doing its plan.
Among the more interesting recipes: Chicken Cakes With Tomato Jam, Cajun-Style Chicken Dip, Curried Chicken and Mango Wraps, Chicken and Quinoa Salad With Dried Fruit, and Grilled Lemon-Orange Chicken With Gremolata.
The dishes are broken down into 10 sections:
- Hearty Salads
- Sandwiches and Wraps
- Substantial Soups and Stews
- Stir-Fries and Skillet Meals
- Roasts and Bakes
- From the Grill
- Slow-Cooker Dinners
- Done in 20 Minutes

In addition to the recipes, there’s a chapter on other types of birds, information on buying the best bird, safe handling (especially important since the recent salmonella scares), how to carve a chicken as well as a turkey (brush up before Thanksgiving), and how to choose them and other cooking tips.
