Walk with friends or walk alone. Just do it!
Day 4
One simple tip, every day to keep you on track in your quest for weight loss and physical fitness. You can do this!
While many of us try for quick weight loss; in the long run we know that losing weight and good health is a life-style, not a quick fix.
Let’s go through attaining this together, to make life better, because we’re sharing the goal. To optimal health through a fit body and an appropriate weight!
Today’s tip:
Walk a mile. Use 100 calories
The great thing about walking (or running) for exercise is that it doesn’t matter how fast you go. You use calories when you exercise! If you walk a mile in 20 minutes or sprint a mile in 4 minutes, you will use an average of 100 calories covering every mile.
Use an inexpensive pedometer or drive a course with your car to mark the miles then get out and go! Plan a minimum of 30 minutes. More time is better. As long as you are actually moving, you earn 100 calories per mile. Simple, eh?

This is absolutely incorrect! 50 calories for a mile walked. 100 for a mile run is closer. By the way, do they actually pay you for these ridiculous tips? I say this because you are doing harm by giving this useless advice. I suppose the next one will be, "eat less." That will certainly earn you union scale!
While there are many factors involved in exactly how many calories we use while exercising, I checked with About.com and found that a 150 pound woman who walked 1 mile in 15 minutes would use 85 calories. A 200 pound woman would use 114 calories for the same pace. Since I coach many women who walk for fitness, their average page is in the 15 minute mile range. And their average weight is in the 150 to 200 pound range. Since I'm handing out tips and not the gospel, I can live with what I wrote.
As for eating less for losing weight thanks for the tip but yes,I already thought of that one.
What would help me in the column is if you send me links to data from other sources that you like. I'll read it all.
