According to a Feb. 3 report from MMA Mania, UFC President Dana White is not opposed to setting up a rematch between Cain Velasquez and Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva.
"Going into this fight, you know, we talking about, you know, if Alistair Overeem won, you know [Silva] and Cain Velasquez had just fought recently, but I'm telling you the way that he looked in this fight and what he did to Alistair, maybe we do this fight again," White said of a Velasquez vs Silva rematch. "Again, you guys know I don't make fights as soon as the fight's over, but I wouldn't be - you know I wouldn't be opposed to that."
Silva was absolutely destroyed by Velasquez at UFC 146 in May 2012, but most of the damage was the result of a cut that formed over the Brazilian's eyebrow.
If the cut never would have formed, it could have been a completely different fight.
White also announced at the UFC 156 post-fight presser that Chris Weidman may be next in line for a UFC title shot against Anderson Silva.
"I liked Weidman before (Evans lost) anyway," White said at the UFC 156 post-fight presser. "So yeah, Rashad looked worse than I've ever seen him tonight."
The list of possible challengers for Silva has been whittled down to Weidman in recent months, as Michael Bisping lost to Vitor Belfort, Tim Boetsch fell to Costa Philippou, Evans dropped a decision to Nogueira, and Yushin Okami looked mediocre in a victory over Alan Belcher.
"Everybody thinks he's ducking Weidman," White said of Silva during the UFC 156 post-fight presser. "I don't know why he does this. He makes it look like he doesn't want to fight Weidman, but believe me right here and right now, Anderson Silva does not care who he fights."
