Wegmans Saturday evening car cruise started the 2014 season with a record breaking number of classic, custom and hot rods cars and trucks. Over 165 colorful, creative and expensive vehicles were on display by their owners as hundreds gathered to appreciate the historical and modern rides.
The annual car cruise night is held each Saturday in the side parking lot of Wegmans Bel Air food market from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. While the side parking lot is normally large enough for an excellent display opening day on May 31st saw cars parked around back along the loading docks.
Chrome gleaming and polished paint held the attention of young and old as people strolled by the classic Tri-Five Chevys, late and early model Corvettes, Mustangs and Cameros. Some of the more exotic sports cars included the English Lotus Elise, a two seat, mid-engine sports car; the Dodge Viper and a Ferrari, the Italian luxury sports car.
Car cruises are a great place for people of all ages to experience cars and trucks of different eras, street rods that have chromed engines and modified bodies, rat rods, which are made from combining parts from a number of different vehicles, and the high end sports cars that are rarely seen outside of a race track.
The car cruise is held every Saturday now through September at the Wegmans Bel Air store located at 21 Wegmans Boulevard, Abingdon, Maryland. Bring the family out and see what the car industry was making the year you were born.
