More about the Group:
All are welcome to attend. It does appear the group is geared slightly toward more experienced practitioners looking to deepen their practices; I would suggest calling Tergar to see what they suggest at (952) 232-0633. Tim Olmsted is listed as a contact for practice questions at email@example.com.
"Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's approach to meditation focuses on working with the challenges of day-to-day life to create a peaceful mind and open heart. Our meditation group includes short presentations on the basics of meditation practice, guided meditations, and group discussion. Feel free to drop in anytime!"
The main, founding teacher of Tergar is Mingyur Rinpoche, a Tibetan meditation master. Tergar's stated mission is making the "ancient practice" of meditation accessible to modern practitioners.
Rinpoche is known for clear and accessible teaching. His unique experience includes using meditation to deal with a childhood anxiety disorder, and later participating in studies regarding effects of meditation on the brain. From this his teaching style is said to accommodate modern ideas, such as an acknowledgment of the role of science in understanding the world, and practical insight based both in a modern understanding and the more traditional elements of Buddhist practice.
