Each week I endeavor to list new performance art productions opening around the Twin Cities. With such an abundance of companies and venues in the area, keeping track of openings can be a challenge, but I'll link whatever I can find. Provided descriptions are reprinted from production websites.
Bedlam Theatre: Hot Corn – The Longest Cabaret of the Year
Mucklejean Magglepot, aspiring renaissance festival performer, vocal enthusiast, and star of The Turducken, returns to the Motel 8 Airport Lounge for her annual solo Christmas cabaret. Friends from the past (including Bobby Mash! and Constantius!) return from the grave to haunt the performance and convince Mucklejean to give up on her dreams on this, the darkest and most hilarious night of them all. Runs 12/21 and 12/28 at Bryant Lake Bowl.

Illusion Theater: Always and Forever
Set in a 1970s urban neighborhood barbershop, the hit musical revue reveals the ups and downs of all kinds of love through the eyes of four African American men relating their stories through the pop tunes of the 60s and 70s, including songs by The Jackson Five, Percy Sledge, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and Earth, Wind and Fire. Runs through 01/08.

Minnesota Dance Theatre: Loyce Houlton's Nutcracker Fantasy
This classic holiday story unfolds through the eyes of Marie who receives the gift of a cherished Nutcracker from her beloved godfather Drosselmayer. Witness the drama of the nefarious Rat Queen and be entertained by the antics of the hilarious Madame Bonbonniere as Drosselmayer takes Marie on a journey to the Land of Snow and Kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Runs at The Cowles Center through 12/31.
