I know everyone thinks they know what a noun is. The old School House Rock cartoons taught us that they are a “person, place or thing.” They are also much more than that. I’d like to call out a few examples and hopefully a couple of things you had not heard before.
Activities: He took singing to a new level. He enjoys running.
Collections: A team was formed to support the group. Congress is now in session.
Concepts: Freedom is the hope of everyone. Justice is needed in this case.
Conditions: Democracy what our government is based on. A Monarchy is a country ruled by a king or queen.
Events: The bachelorette party was a huge success. The baseball game went to eleven innings.
Groups: The BBB is the group that helps people know the standing of businesses. TheWomen’s Knitting Club meets every Tuesday.
Persons: Tom Brokaw is an NBC newscaster. Stephen King had trouble with publishing his first book.
Places: New York is my favorite city. The Grand Canyon is a beautiful place to visit.
Things: A train is a great way to travel. Soccer is my son’s favorite sport.
