Last weekend's games for the U.S. Open Cup for Arena Soccer featured several games from both sides of the brackets. In the West there were no results posted from the Las Vegas game Friday night that occurred between the Knights and Legends. Their opponents in the Round of Sixteen was decided Saturday night when the San Diego Sockers defeated the Ontario Fury 13-5. San Diego dominated the entire game by outscoring the Fury in the first three periods. Ontario made a late comeback in the fourth but it wasn't enough to turn the tide.
The Bay Area Rosal advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating the Sacramento Surge 9-5. Rosal dominated Sacramento by taking a commanding 4-0 in the first period and never looked back. Sunday night's game was between the Dallas Sidekicks and the Hildago La Fiera for a spot in the quarterfinals. The Sidekicks lost the game being outscored by La Fiera 12-9. Dallas made it a game in the fourth by scoring five goals but Hildago scored six to secure the win.
The East had two spots up for grabs. The Harrisburg Heat were looking to advanced to the semi-finals but the Cleveland Freeze stood in their way. Harrisburg took a 2-1 lead going into the second period but Cleveland put the freeze on the Heat by outscoring them 4-1 in the second. The Heat made it a game going into the fourth by keeping up with Cleveland before the Freeze poured on the offense by scoring four goals winning the game 12-5.
Wichita B-52s faced the Denver Dynamite for a spot in the Round of Sixteen. The Premier League's Dynamite didn't stand a chance with the B-52s and they were bombed out of the arena by the score of 15-6. Wichita will face the winner of the Tulsa Tea Men and the Tulsa Revolution/B-H United game (which was cancelled due to inclement weather).
