Sprint Cup Series – Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch held off rookie Kyle Larson to win Sunday’s Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Busch’s JGR teammate Denny Hamlin was taken to the hospital just minutes before the green flag with a sinus infection that was affecting his vision. Busch led just five laps in the race, which went to a green-white-checkered finish after multiple drivers had tire-wear problems late in the race. Kurt Busch finished third, Matt Kenseth fourth and Tony Stewart fifth. Jamie McMurray, Brian Vickers, AJ Allmendinger, Paul Menard and Carl Edwards rounded out the top 10.

Nationwide Series – Larson had the upper hand on Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch Saturday in the 300 Nationwide Series race at Auto Club Speedway, as he held off challenges from both Cup Series veterans during the late stages of the race. Harvick finished second, followed by Busch in third and Joey Logano in fourth. Elliott Sadler took the fifth-place spot, followed by rookie Chase Elliott in sixth and Kenseth in seventh. Ty Dillon, Trevor Bayne and Regan Smith finished eighth through 10th, respectively.

Coming up – NASCAR’s Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series head to Martinsville Speedway this weekend, while the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series visits The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Verizon IndyCar Series kicks off its 2014 season with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this weekend as well.
