Sprint Cup Series – Jeff Gordon won his third race of the season Sunday, taking the checkered flag in the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway ahead of runner-up Kevin Harvick. Joey Logano finished third, followed by Paul Menard and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Nationwide Series – Rookie Chris Buescher won his first Nationwide Series race Saturday, beating Regan Smith and Brian Scott in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Rookie Chase Elliott finished fourth, followed by road racing veteran Alex Tagliani.
Camping World Truck Series – Johnny Sauter beat his teammate Matt Crafton to the checkered flag on Saturday, winning the Careers for Veterans 200 at Michigan International Speedway. Ron Hornaday Jr., Tayler Malsam and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.
NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series – Rain forced the postponement of the Funny Car final and Pro Stock semifinals and final at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway, but Morgan Lucas took home the Top Fuel Wally from his family-sponsored event. The Funny Car final between John Force and Ron Capps, as well as the Pro Stock semifinals and final will be completed during designated qualifying rounds during the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, August 27th through September 1st at Lucas Oil Raceway Park at Indianapolis.
Verizon IndyCar Series – Will Power, long notorious for not winning on ovals, took home a win in the ABC Supply Wisconsin 250 at the Milwaukee Mile Sunday, beating Juan Pablo Montoya and Tony Kanaan to the top of the podium. Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden rounded out the top five.
