Weekend wrap-up: Edwards flips for Bristol

Sprint Cup Series – Carl Edwards led a trio of blue ovals across the finish line as Ford wrapped up the podium in the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Edwards was followed to the checkered flag by his Roush Fenway Racing teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Richard Petty Motorsports driver Aric Almirola. Tony Stewart came home fourth, followed by Marcos Ambrose and Denny Hamlin in fifth and sixth, respectively. Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Brian Vickers and Kyle Larson completed the top 10 at Bristol.

Nationwide Series – Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch won his record-setting 16th event at Bristol on Saturday, taking the checkered flag in the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 Nationwide Series race. Busch became the first driver in history to win 16 races at a single track in NASCAR’s three top-tier series with his seventh Nationwide Series win at the 0.533-mile track; he also has five Cup Series victories and four in the Camping World Truck Series. Larson finished second, followed by Kevin Harvick, Ryan Blaney and Matt Kenseth. Ty Dillon, Brendan Gaughan, Trevor Bayne, Chase Elliott and Regan Smith rounded out the top 10.

NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series – Doug Kalitta and Robert Hight took home Wallys in Top Fuel and Funny Car, respectively, from the prestigious Amalie Motor Oil NHRA GatorNationals at Auto Plus Raceway at Gainesville on Sunday. Also picking up wins at Gainesville: Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Steve Johnson (Pro Stock Motorcycle).
