Weekend wrap up

The University of Michigan kicked off their Division I lacrosse program with a 13-9 loss to the Detroit Titans. U of D looked a bit more polished than the Wolverines and they should have – it was their third game of the season. But, Michigan looked good in spots and they definitely belonged on the same field with their in-state rivals. U of  D has been around for four years now and need to cut down on some of their mental errors – they failed to back up shots on three man-up situations and lost possessions as well as rushing at times on the offensive end. The score could have been even more lopsided. Michigan has a long way to go, to be sure, but it was fantastic to see the sell out crowd in Pontiac enjoying a DI lacrosse game in between two Michigan schools.

On Saturday, Michigan State went to overtime and beat Davenport, 13-12. Patrick Green and Josh Nemes each had three goals for the Spartans. Cody Cross and Lyle Parks each netted three for Davenport.
