Jesse Wornum (61) and his son Arthur captured the hearts of Americans on season 11 of Biggest Loser. Motivated to change their lives and get healthy, the pair joined BL to do just that.
If you watch the show, you know of the deep connection the pair developed with team members, trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels, as well as Jesse's valient efforts to keep himself and Arthur, the biggest contestant in the show's history, on the ranch. Yet after a very emotional weigh in on week 8, Jesse was voted off with the second lowest weight loss of the week. He vowed that the next time America saw him, he'd be sporting "a 32-inch waist". The following week, Arthur, with still more than 100 pounds to lose, would be eliminated by his new team.
Drama aside, it's all about weight loss and during his time on the BL ranch, Jesse reversed his diabetes and high blood pressure and no longer takes medications! He's maintaning his diet of 1500 to 1800 calories, working out 1.5 to 2 hours per day including working with a trainer several days a week.
Arthur's goal is to get his life back by reaching his target weight of 250 lbs. Doing so will likely earn him the 'at-home' prize awarded at the BL finale to the eliminated contestant with the most weight loss. Having started the contest at 507 pounds (he once weighed 646), and working out up to 4 hours a day, he's already set an excellent track record for success!
Now back home in Portland, both father and son are utilizing all they've learned from their experience to continue on their weight loss journey while inspiring others to start or keep moving. You can get in the action, literally. Join Jesse and/or Arthur to get your walk on at a local Portland or Vancouver trail. Recent walks were held at Cottonwood Beach in Washougal, WA and Broughton Beach near the Portland airport.
