Happy Monday!
Did you make time to celebrate YOU over the past weekend?
After five straight work days, with a little “me” time carved out at the start, the finish and a little in between each day, the weekend is our gift of two whole days when we get to give (to ourselves and others) the gift of love.
Love manifested in my world in various forms over the past weekend. For starters, Friday evening was spent in the coziness of the living room where I remained cuddled up on the plush sofa, in front of which sat Jack, ginger a new book (Jack, as in Daniels. Ginger as in ale.). This rare and out of print book came by way of a loan from a friend, who believes it will aid in the learning of a new spiritual practice of meditation, resulting in greater concentration.
The next day I arose with zest and vigor to take a spin class, followed by a yoga class. By mid day I was back home for a nice bath before jumping back into my whip du jour: A brand new Acura ZDX. In it I took a bittersweet drive to South Carolina…Bittersweet because Acura announced that 2013 will be the final production year for the ZDX.
With just about 100 miles on it, it was tight, right and bore the thrill that comes with the smell of being brand new! As for wind noise during the straight highway drive—none! That made the music streaming from my Bluetooth’d new Blackberry Bold that I had already loaded with music from iTunes–sound all the better! All and all, I was looking good and feeling great in the new ZDX, which I have much more to say about. So look for a full review of this sexy, sleek, hot whip in the weeks to come at Traveling In My World.com, as well as Hombre Magazine, Harlem World Magazine, Truth Magazine and The Examiner.com.
About two hours into the two hour and some change scenic drive up I-85 north, suddenly, the Blue Ridge Mountains appeared shortly prior to reaching my destination: The Reserve at Lake Keowee. There I checked into The Guest House, where a lovely master suite awaited in a bed and breakfast type of atmosphere.
The house is very lodge-esque on the exterior as well as interior design. Rich and hearty wood is the theme throughout. Hearty and beautiful wood tables and consoles were strategically positioned to comfortably accommodate the plush sofas and chairs surrounding the wood burning fireplace downstairs. Like a home, it has a full kitchen and laundry room downstairs, both of which were furnished with the necessities that make a house a home. The bedroom–one of four master suites, was perfect. It has a huge king bed dressed in white high-end linens in white, making it easy to see they were fresh and clean. Lots more great pieces of wood furniture made it quite homey, including a huge desk and chair and some of the best picture frames I’ve seen in a long time. The bathroom has a gigantic, deep soaking tub in front of a huge window, with a separate shower and water closet. Off the bedroom was a very spacious balcony with wooded views on one side, the golf course, a lake and the Blue Ridge Mountains on the other side.
