With Memorial Day fast approaching, it is time to think about summer vacation getaways. Memorial Day will fall on May 26, 2014 this year, but even after Memorial Day, these are good suggestions for hot vacation spots.
Acadia National Park is one of the most popular state parks in the United States. Located in Maine, it's pretty country there anyways. It is not far from Bar Harbor for grocery shopping before the big camping trip. There is also Bangor nearby so Stephen King fans can take a drive up and even see his house after the camping trip or before. For technophobes, this is an ideal vacation spot because there is absolutely no cell phone service inside the park.
Cape Cod is also good all summer. There is lots to see there on the cape itself such as Provincetown and the towns in between Provincetown and Boston. There are a lot of beaches for swimming and sunbathing. Since this is the summer, seafood (such as lobster) will be in season so indulge while on the beach and sightseeing.
Providence, Rhode Island is a cute city with nice buildings and a river running through it, which makes it good for walking. But beginning on May 24, 2014, the twentieth annual water fire festival will take place which brings boats to fire set to music along the river. It is good for kids and maybe even a date night/weekend.
These are just a few of the many things highlighting what people can do in the northeastern United States. From cities to nature, beaches to fire burning on water, they've got it all!
