The first weekend of each month always has a lot of spiritual activities happening in Columbus. The following events involve music, healing and fellowship. They are all family friendly, with many events being at no cost or by love offering.
Friday, September 6th to Sunday September 8th.
The Hot Times Festival is a family friendly event with good food, many crafts, drumming and singing. There is a poetry slam and some very unique "art cars". It is located at 240 Parsons Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. This is at the intersection of Parsons Avenue and Main Street.
The festival is held from Friday, September 6 until Sunday, September 8th. J London (aka James Brittan) will perform on the Porch Stage from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Saturday, September 7th
The 1st Saturday Forum will be held at the Christian Spiritualist Temple from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The forum provides two or more readings, spiritual energy work, and lunch for $20.00. The church is located at 77 South Sixth Street, Columbus, OH 43215, which is one block west of the Columbus Main Library.
The 1st Saturday Chanting by In Spirit Ministries will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church at 93 W. Weisheimer, Columbus, OH 43214. You can learn more about In Spirit Ministries and their programs at http://www.inspiritministries.org. The theme for this month's chanting is "Our Eyes on Peace". Given the turmoil in the world, this is a wonderful focus. The chanting is on a love offering basis, with contributions used to defray expenses. You will enjoy these great voices and guitar work.

Fall Equinox Celebration at the Christian Spiritualist Temple will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Anthony Two Feathers will play Native American flute with a recorded nature background from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. There will be breathing meditation and a discussion of call and response chanting from 7:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Chanting will be from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sandy Young will provide the keyboard work for the chanting. Rev. Jim Hetzer and Jim Fuller will provide the lead on the chanting. This is by love offering, with a suggested donation of $10.00. All proceeds will be split among the musicians.

In Spirit Ministries presents Eddie Watkins, Jr. for a return to the 1st Saturday Chanting at the First Unitarian Universalist Church. Eddie provides a combination of Motown, gospel, rhythm and blues that creates a great energy for all those attending. The church is located at 93 W. Weisheimer, Columbus, OH 43214. The program goes from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is by love offering, with contributions greatly appreciated to defray expenses.
