On a dreary day, listening is proven to make you happy!
Nothing like a weekend listening party to kick start a dreary day…
We are going to start this week with a band who, on Thursday, came about as close as bands do to our area – Bon Jovi. They were in Charlotte on their Circle tour, and I’m hearing the show was awesome. This is a classic concert track from the Moscow Music Peace Festival in 1989 – here is Blood on Blood.
Second is a song by a musician who is unfortunately in the news because of health problems, Bret Michaels. He is most well known for his work with the glam rock band Poison, but here is a beautiful song from his solo career. This is the song Fallen.
The last two go together to show people that the more things change, the more they stay the same. First up is the insanely talented Paul Gilbert. He first became known to guitarists with his band Racer X, but went to greater fame with his next band, Mr. Big. He now does solo guitar work almost exclusively, and this is an example of his style. A short excerpt, this is the beginning of the song Get Out Of My Yard.
Now, to show how things don’t change too much, here is an unknown guitarist performing Nicolo Paganini’s Caprice No. 24.
That’s all for this week, but share the love of listening and exploring new music with your friends, and again - all comments welcome!
