Weekend getaway from Atlanta to Amelia Island Florida

Drive six hours south of Atlanta to the east coast of Florida and you can have a terrific weekend of eating seafood and picking up sea shells along the Florida coast. Just two miles wide and thirteen miles long, Amelia Island is pack with fun for you and your family. Amelia Island is one of the few coast lines that offer horseback riding right along the beach. If you are flying into Amelia just for the weekend, fly to Jacksonville. It is 33 miles away from the island. I would recommend driving only because the island is six hours from Atlanta and then you will have your car.
