Weekend fundraisers help kids with disabilities

The first weekend in March is host to a number of galas, parties, and dinners all over the country. A couple of note will be taking place in the Twin Cities include the I Have a Voice Gala for GiGi's Playhouse on Saturday, March 1 and the Chef's Brigade Dinner for We Can Ride on March 2.

GiGi's Playhouse Twin Cities will be joining 15 other locations around the nation for the I Have a Voice gala. That's 16 galas on one night. The Twin Cities' event will take place in a new location this year, at Radisson Blu in Bloomington adjacent to the Mall of America. Come celebrate another year of achievements with the Sports Director for KSTP/KSTC, Joe Schmit, and self advocate, Dr. Karen Gaffney, who is the first swimmer with Down syndrome to swim solo across Lake Tahoe and the first person with Down Syndrome to receive an honorary doctorate degree. The evening will include an extensive silent auction and wonderful sit-down dinner followed by an exciting program and live auction. The funds raised at this event help GiGi's Twin Cities continue to provide free services to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Even if you don't attend the event, you can register and bid on the silent auction items here.

On Sunday, March 2, We Can Ride will have its 19th annual Chef's Brigade Dinner hosted by the Edinburgh Country Club in Brooklyn Park. This event brings chefs from all over Minnesota to create a delectable multi-course dinner. There will also be a social hour and silent auction followed by the dinner and live auction which includes the chance to continue the culinary treats in your own kitchen.

Both of these events help get much-needed funding to organizations working to help make the lives of children with disabilities better in our local area. Consider getting them your support by attending, donating, or bidding on silent auction items.
