The Alhambra Theater and Dining exposes JAX, Florida to some good old entertainment with a quick-witted show entitled “Weekend Comedy”. If you enjoyed watching “Laverne & Shirley” on TV, then you won’t want to miss seeing Cindy Williams in person. She’s funny, warm, gorgeous and a seasoned pro. Shirley Feeney is back on stage playing “Peggy”, a.k.a. Cindy Williams, in the Tod Booth production of “Weekend Comedy”.
Dave Dionne’s stage-set gets the audience in the mood to cozy-up to the antics of the four people who happen to be together by the mistaken over booking of a one bedroom, one sofa bed cottage. The two couples (one white and a little mature in age, and a younger ‘young-at-heart’ black couple) make for an interesting weekend survival encounter. It’s easy for the audience to relate to the lifestyles of either one couple or the other; “happy-go-lucky” or “stuck-in-a-rut”.
Tom McElroy (Frank) is no stranger to the stage, television or film. His presence with Ms Williams is a comparable match and will keep his audience wondering what he’ll do next. Did the man actually drop his pants in the middle of the living room?
If you thought that you saw this gentleman serving you your dinner once – you actually did see the same man. Dominic Windsor (Tony) has many hats that he wears around the Alhambra, but acting is his forte. Besides a couple of national productions, Dominic has appeared in numerous presentations at the Alhambra including: “This Magic Moment”, “My Fair Lady”, Willy Wonka”, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and “Hello Dolly”, just to name a few.
Kelsey Clifford (Jill) is new to the Alhambra Theater and Dining, but not to the stage. Her demure, yet funny performance should assure her other exciting roles in the future.
If you’d like to experience the meal that you’ll be missing, if you don’t attend this show, then check the following article that will “list” some of the scrumptious eatables from the kitchen of Chef DeJuan Roy.
Here’s another news flash! There will be another star from the hit television sitcom – Laverne & Shirley coming to the Alhambra Theater & Dining. Mr. Eddie Mekka, “Carmine Ragusa-The Big Ragoo” will star in “South Pacific”. This will be the next show that begins on October 23, 2013, after the present “Weekend Comedy” with the charming Cindy Williams. Don’t miss either of these seasoned actors that are gracing the stage here in Jacksonville, FL.
