Weekend box office: 'The Lego Movie' continues its amazing streak

This weekend’s new movies didn’t stand a chance at the box office. “The Lego Movie” is still going strong—very strong, in fact, making $31.4 million in its third weekend of release. With its popularity it was able to top the box office by a long shot, the new Kevin Costner thriller “3 Days to Kill” trailing behind in second with $12.3 million.

Pompeii” followed in third with $10.01 million. The disaster film based on true events was one of the weekend’s other new wide releases, but didn’t gain much traction as it was accompanied by negative reviews.
