Weekend box office: 'Ride Along' tops slow weekend while 'I, Frankenstein' bombs

Last weekend’s number one movie at the box office, the action comedy “Ride Along”, stayed in the top spot again this weekend, as the weekend’s only new wide release bombed. “Ride Along”, which stars funnymen Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, headed the relatively slow movie weekend with $21.1 million.

Meanwhile, that new movie that bombed was “I, Frankenstein”. The action movie stars Aaron Eckhart as Frankenstein’s monsters, who is now living in the modern world and gets caught in a war between two clans. The film debuted in sixth with only $8.2 million after receiving highly negative reviews.

And while they didn’t crack the top 12 this weekend, “Dallas Buyers Club”, “Gravity”, “12 Years a Slave”, and “Nebraska” all received a boost in box office revenue this weekend after opening back up in more theaters nationwide as a result of their Best Picture Oscar nominations.
