There are a number of running events on the calendar this weekend in Austin. Here are the top races of the calendar this weekend (Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15):
- Colorful Run/Walk 5k at The Ridge: To be held on Saturday, December 14 at 8 a.m. at Vista Ridge High School, the Colorful Run/Walk 5k at The Ridge is a color run where dyed powders will be thrown on participants at designated color stations. The fastest male and female runners will receive crystal trophies. All proceeds for the race benefit Vista Ridge High School Project Graduation.
- Bubble Run: Featuring Foam Bogs to cover runners in foam from head to toe, the Bubble Run offers a fun family event for all ages. It will be held on Saturday, December 14 at 9 a.m. at Travis County Exposition Center. Children under six are free with an adult registration.
- Girls on the Run Fall 5k: The Girls on the Run Fall 5k will be held at Walter E. Long Park in Austin on Saturday, December 14 at 8 a.m. The run welcomes people of all ages, as well as walkers, to celebrate the fall running season in Austin. It will also celebrate the progress that girls within the Girls on the Run program have made in their running ability.
- HITS Multi-Sport: The HITS Multi-Sport includes races of a variety of distances: one mile, 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon. In its first year in Austin, the races will be held at the home of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, giving runners an opportunity to run on the same track as race car drivers. Race funds will benefit the American Diabetes Association.
