On Tuesday, October 15, the Orlandobands.com/Evermore Sound Evermore Battle of the Bands continues at The Haven in Orlando. This week’s event features live music from Orlando bands Arcadence, Speed Limit and The Reset along with Central Florida bands Atomic Fate and Catcher and the Rye and Miami band Raine.
“We are looking forward to having the chance to be on stage again after a two month hiatus and also to getting some feedback on our performance,” said Makenzie Kamal (vocals, guitar) of Orlando band Arcadence. “We’re curious to see what the judge’s thoughts and criticisms will be compared to what they had to say when we competed last year.”
The bands will be competing for over $25,000 in prizes including a custom built guitar and recording packages. They will be judged on several categories including musicianship, songwriting, originality, crowd reaction, stage presence and professionalism, as well as promotion and networking.
The Evermore Battle of the Bands is just one of the many events presented by Ben Gardner at Orlandobands.com. “I think Orlandobands.com has made a huge impact on the scene as a trustworthy, reliable, and truly professional promoter for local shows,” said Kamal. “In my mind, they have set the bar HIGH for my expectation of a show that is professional but still fun and lighthearted. Not only that, but Ben is always willing to share his knowledge of the music business with us and offer advice to help us grow as musicians trying to break into this tough industry. We are lucky to have him and the whole Orlandobands team!”
The sponsors of this year’s Evermore Battle of the Bands are Evermore Sound, Orlandobands.com, Capacity Productions, Freedom Union Records, Classic Cases, InEarz Audio, Rejuven-Ink, Spawn Guitars, Left Digital Media, Goin Balistic!, 101.1 WJRR’s Native Noise with Supa Dave and The Orlando Local Music Examiner. “We have been very lucky to record bass and live drums at Evermore Studios,” said Kamal. “Luke [Beaulac] was a pleasure to work with and did everything in his power to get us the best quality sound. We are hoping to have the chance to record with him again very soon!”
The Haven is located at 6700 Aloma Ave. in Winter Park/Orlando. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. with the first band. Tickets are $5 in advance from the bands. (Their pre-sale tickets count as part of their score.) Tickets will be $8 at the door for this 18+ event. Just as the past battles, they will be collecting donations for charity. The money collected this year will go to the Southeast Lung Transplant Fund, helping to support HelpHOPELive.
