Beloved actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke was rescued from his burning car on a California freeway Monday. The “Diagnosis Murder” star was driving along the 101 freeway near Calabasas when the vehicle he was driving caught fire.
The 87 year-old actor was driving began experiencing engine trouble and pulled over just as the engine became engulfed in flames. L.A. area news outlets caught the blaze on camera as helicopters circled the scene. Van Dyke was pulled from his Jaguar by passerby Jason Pennington. He was apparently surprise to discover that he had saved the life of the legendary “Marry Poppins” star.
Van Dyke wasn’t injured in the fire. Dick Van Dyke is a veteran of television, stage and film.
