Week 7 of the college football season saw some huge upsets, with seven teams in the Top 20 suffering losses on Oct. 12. Formerly undefeated Stanford, Oklahoma and Michigan all fell while preseason national title contender Georgia lost for the second time this season. Here is a look at this week’s college football rankings after those crushing losses.
While the AP and Coaches’ polls may be a bit more harsh to some (Oklahoma) and easy on others (Stanford), the fact that the losses are coming early this season means that the race to the national title may pick up steam as the college football season wears on.
Alabama and Oregon remain the heavy favorites to meet in the final BCS national championship game, but Ohio State remains undefeated also after a bye this week and the upcoming Clemson vs. Florida State game should be huge when it comes to those two schools chances at the big game this season.
Meanwhile, with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma both falling to losses already this season, Baylor and Texas Tech have moved to the top of the Big 12 when it comes to the college football rankings and both of those teams hope to prove they deserve to be mentioned in the talk come season’s end.
