WEDU GM Susan Howarth to speak at Broadcaster’s Club Luncheon Friday

(Tampa Bay, FL) WEDU-TV General Manager Susan Howarth will be the guest speaker at the Broadcaster’s Club of Florida luncheon on Friday January 13 in Sarasota at the SaraBay Country Club. Topics will include: What is behind the current financial crisis in public broadcasting? What is the problem? What is the answer? Where is it all likely to end?

In April, 2010, Susan Howarth was named WEDU's fifth president and chief executive officer in the station's 52-year history. She succeeded Richard Lobo who had been nominated by President Obama to be the director of the International Broadcasting Bureau. She is a 36-year veteran of public broadcasting and has been an integral part of the ongoing transition of public broadcasting to public media delivered across a variety of platforms.

Cost of the luncheon is $20.00 which is scheduled for 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. You do not need to be a member of the Broadcaster’s Club of Florida to attend. The club holds luncheons on a monthly basis from October through March. For more information or to make a reservation click here.
