Wednesday weekend creep: Boston comedy events February 28 through March 2

It’s finally mid-week, and even better, it’s the last week of this miserable month of February. March is officially upon us this weekend, and spring is soon to follow (no matter how many weekend snow storms arrive between now and then). Why not celebrate New Englanders everywhere slowly coming out of hibernation than by taking in some amazingly hilarious local comedy? This week (as always) is filled to the brim with all sorts of comedic delights for you to enjoy. Here are just a few of the great events taking place this weekend.

On Thursday, February 28 at 8:30 p.m., it’s once again time for Will Noonan & Friends at Nick’s Comedy Stop. This week’s lineup is an awesome one, featuring the comedic hijinks of Matt D, Kyle Ploof and Dan Crohn. A little birdie also tells us that you might just see a few potential Comedy Central comics on the bill as will, but that’s still to be confirmed. How much more awesomeness could you possibly squeeze into a $12 ticket?

Bob Saget headlines The Wilbur on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. Yes, Bob Saget has starred in many successful television shows, including two of the most family-friendly shows network TV has ever produced ("Full House" and "Americas Funniest Home Videos") but he’s also been an out of his mind, standup comedian for over thirty years. Tickets are still available at The Wilbur box office.

Also on Friday, March 1 (10:00 p.m.), come on out to ImprovBoston for Dumber Faster: A Benefit for Doctors Without Borders. In Dumber Faster, David Mogolov tries to reconcile the wonders of technology with his own rampant stupidity. How can a man with a smartphone be so consistently dumb? He'd blame the technology, but he can't. He's pretty sure his brain is at fault. It's a fundraiser for a great organization. Hopefully it'll bust your gut and raise money to fix somebody else's - special guest storytellers include Veronica Ades and Josh Gondelman.

On Saturday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m., comedian Janeane Garofalo headlines The Wilbur with feature act Dave Hill. The much-loved actress and comedian has been an American institution since she burst on the scene in 1992. Known for her many memorable and critically acclaimed roles in films such as "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," “Wet Hot American Summer,” “Ratatouille,” "Steal This Movie," "Reality Bites," "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion," "Mystery Men," “The Ten” and "The Cable Guy", Garofalo is very much looking forward to returning to her former stomping grounds and recently took the time to speak witzh the Boston Comedy Scene Examiner about her visit – read the interview here. Tickets are on sale now.

Also on Saturday, the Mad Pharmacist himself, Artie Januario headlines the Lots Of Laughs Comedy Lounge in North Andover, with special guests Scotty Lombardo and Graig Murphy. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online. The Lots of Laughs Comedy Lounge is located at 946 Osgood Street in North Andover.
