June 24, 2011 - The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, in downtown LA, is holding organ recitals every Wednesday at 12.45 pm until August 31.
Organist Namhee Han, a native of South Korea and the current resident organist at the Westwood Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles, performed June 22 the Fantasy and Fugue in G Minor 542 by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Symphony No 6 Op 59 by French composer Louis Vierne.
The instrument, with its massive pipes, inside the structure of the church with its perfect acoustics, provides a magnificent sound. There is space for many more to attend, as, even with more than 50 people this past Wednesday, the crowd seemed thin within such a large space.
The concerts will continue every Wednesday, at no charge, with a different organist playing on the same instrument.
