A whole website just for our wedding?
Yeah. Kind of. (But not really.) And it will help you get more/better gifts.
Do we even have enough information to share?
Yes. You do. And it won't fit into a text or Tweet...but the link to the site will!
When should we set this up?
As soon as you have a wedding weekend and some basic information (like the venue) booked.
I'll admit to a favorite. WeddingMapper.com. There is also wedding.com for a simpler site.
I'm still not convinced. Why do I need this?
Critical stuff guests need to know: hotel block reservation info, maps and directions, more info about the rehearsal dinner or farewell brunch, babysitting info.
Stuff guests like to see: pictures of you, stories about your wedding party,
Stuff guests need, but don't want to bug you with: cool local spots they should check out while in town (This is Austin! You need to make sure they hit the right spots on 6th after the Rehearsal Dinner. It's your duty to make sure they have some good breakfast tacos on Saturday morning!), Your Registries.
Stuff you want to tell your guests, but can't put on the invitation: Your Registries. (see a pattern, here?)
Yes, it's true, if you make it easy for guests to get the exact wedding gifts you want, most of them will do it!
It takes about an hour to set up one of these simple sites. You can even have NamesDate.weddingmapper.com to make it elegant enough to put on invitations.
