Wedding in the park: Days weekly recap 10/15/10

Last week on Days, Melanie was shocked to learn that Carly knew about Chloe cheating on her father. Melanie stormed out of the apartment, went to the hospital and confronted Carly. Carly admitted she’d known about Chloe’s indiscretion almost from the beginning and that she’d wanted to tell Daniel, but Chloe had begged her not to. Carly explained that Vivian had tricked Chloe into thinking she and Daniel were having an affair and begged Melanie not to tell Daniel, but Melanie said she couldn’t lie to him.

Phillip went to Maggie’s and found Melanie in her bridesmaid dress. Phillip said Chloe had called him and explained everything. He begged Melanie not to say anything. He said he was worried about her and that Daniel would never be able to look at her without thinking of the bad news she gave him. Melanie said she was worried about the baby because she knew what it was like to grow up with someone who had no business being a parent. Phillip defended Chloe and Melanie accused him and Carly of being on her side. Melanie left the house to break the news to her father. Phillip went to Chloe and Daniel’s apartment and told her he hadn’t been able to talk Melanie out of telling Daniel everything. Chloe asked to be alone and Phillip left.

After receiving Melanie’s call begging him to meet her for lunch, Daniel tried to track Melanie down and couldn’t. He went to his apartment hoping she was there. Nicole was there talking to Chloe. Nicole lied to Daniel and said that Melanie had overheard Chloe saying that her baby would be Daniel’s “in every way” and had unintentionally upset Melanie. Nicole admitted Melanie was upset and may not be at the wedding. Daniel went back to the Kiriakis mansion. Melanie arrived soon after. Upon seeing her father, Melanie burst into tears and told him he couldn’t marry Chloe. Daniel said that he knew what had happened and that Melanie had every right to be upset. Melanie thought for a moment that Daniel knew but soon realized that Chloe had lied to him about what was wrong. Just as Melanie was about to tell Daniel the truth, Henderson entered the room with burns on his arm and asked Daniel for help. Daniel rushed to help him and told Melanie they’d talk later.

Brady went to the park and found Nicole waiting. Nicole wondered how Vivian was doing, but Brady assured her she was alive and going crazy in the sarcophagus. As they kissed, Arianna walked up and caught them. When Arianna expressed her disgust, Brady informed her that he was with Nicole because she never judged him. Brady realized he’d forgotten the rings and left to go get them. Arianna warned Nicole that Brady would snap out of it and was too smart to ruin his life. Nicole retorted that no one was above ruining their lives and Arianna of all people should know that. At the mansion, Brady grabbed the rings and called Nicole. Melanie caught him and lectured him for being with her. Brady offered Melanie a ride to the wedding but she refused.

Daniel arrived at the park and spotted his bride, telling her how beautiful she looked. Daniel wanted to make things right with Melanie, but Chloe said she’d moved up their flights so they could visit her family in New York and they should get married now. Daniel reluctantly agreed. Melanie interrupted the wedding so she could speak with Chloe privately. Melanie said she couldn’t forgive Chloe but agreed not to tell Daniel the secret. Chloe thanked her but Melanie warned her not to. As Melanie sat down and glared at them, Daniel and Chloe exchanged vows and kissed. Brady congratulated them and Victor muttered something about the heartburn Daniel had coming. At Maggie’s, Phillip and Carly both assured Melanie she had done the right thing. Melanie asked to speak with Carly alone. Phillip went to the Brady Pub while Melanie said that she’d always wanted a family and felt she would never have it again. Melanie said she lied to Daniel to protect him and the baby but that Carly had only tried to protect herself. Carly tearfully apologized for hurting Melanie and Melanie asked her to leave.

Bo went to visit Hope and admitted that Ciara was being teased at school. Hope told Bo to tell their daughter not to engage the bully and to imagine him in a pink tutu. When Hope said that Ciara was being teased because of her, Bo asked her to pull herself together to be a good mother to Ciara. He said they were in a hole and starting to dig their way out. Hope thanked Bo for setting her straight. After he left, she went back to the infirmary. The inmate she’d been working with, Leigh, informed her that the patient who had come in with appendicitis had died.

EJ called Sami and asked her to bring the kids for a visit. Sami said she couldn’t wait. When he hung up, EJ smiled and said he hadn’t even begun to fight. Sami arrived alone, smiling. EJ joked with her about the kids not being there. Sami said that EJ had two visitors who wanted to see him instead. Roman and Rafe entered the room and happily informed EJ that his blood pressure was no longer at dangerous levels and he was ready to hear the truth. “You know, don’t you? We’re not married,” Sami said, reminding him that Rafe had interrupted the wedding and that he’d never see his kids again. EJ stared calmly at his lunch as Sami told him she and Rafe were getting married. When Sami, Rafe and Roman left the room, EJ muttered that Sami should be scared.

Back at their apartment, Sami admitted to Rafe that she had shot EJ. When Rafe accused her of covering for Will, Sami showed Rafe her call log so he could see that Kate had called her. She explained that she hadn’t gone to the mansion to shoot EJ but when she’d seen him passed out with the gun, she hadn’t been thinking. Rafe assured her that nothing had changed and he was going to do everything he could to protect her, starting with resigning from the FBI. Will arrived and asked Sami why she looked so happy. They went to the pier to talk and Sami told Will that Rafe knew everything and would protect her. Arianna overheard and realized that Sami was the one who shot EJ.

Arianna wondered what to do. She started to call EJ but decided to go to the DiMera mansion instead. At the mansion, EJ admitted to Stefano that he missed Sami and the kids and if Sami had tried to kill him, he’s gotten what he deserved. Stefano accused EJ of suffering brain damage. Lexi went to get the door and found Arianna. Arianna asked to see EJ, but Lexi tried to persuade her to come back. Noticing she looked flustered, EJ asked Arianna to come in. Arianna told EJ that she knew he wasn’t a monster, despite what Rafe had proven, and she wanted to help him the way he had helped her. Kate overheard them talking and once again professed Will’s innocent in the shooting. EJ reminded Kate that if Will was innocent, she had nothing to worry about. Before Arianne could tell EJ anything, Gabi called her and reminded her of their dinner date at the Brady Pub. Arianna left, saying she’d be back later. At the pub, Gabi broke the news to Arianna that Rafe had resigned from the FBI.

Vivian pleaded with Gus to come rescue her from the sarcophagus. At first, he refused, but when he overheard Brady taunting her he assured Vivian he was on his way. Vivian warned him to stay incognito as he arrived in Salem. Gus arrived at the mausoleum and picked the lock so he could get inside. Vivian told him to hurry and get her out of there. As Gus began to rescue Vivian, she shouted that there was someone behind him. There was a thud and Gus fell to the floor.
