Whether it's the popularity of "Downton Abbey" or the recent film "The Great Gatsby" (staring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Edgerton, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulliga) a popular wedding trend for today's couples seems to be the roaring 20's. So, how do you create a wedding based on the Roaring 20's without it coming across like a costume party?

It's actually pretty simple. Keep away from "cartoonish" gangster inspired suits and flapper dresses, and, the rest will fall into place. Your wedding gown is a key element in setting the tone so be sure to tell your consultant at your bridal salon your theme, and, then he or she will be able to locate the right dress with just enough Art Deco in it to reflect the feeling. An excellent example is this Lazaro A-Line Wedding Dress from Kleinfeld Bridal in NYC: http://www.kleinfeldbridal.com/show-bridal-gown.cfm?item_id=15094:

As far a venue, select a classic hotel from there era such as The Roosevelt Hotel which has a fabulous roaring 20's history or for a smaller wedding find a notable Speakeasy like 21 Club. Additionally, instead of limousines hire classic 1920s cars for your wedding party. It will help to add that flare you are seeking to the day. (Star City Limos is a good place to start. They offer a 1937 Rolls Royce that works perfectly for weddings: http://www.starcitylimo.com/rolls-phantom)

Have fun and enjoy your day! And, it's guaranteed your wedding will be one to be remembered since you dared to do something a bit different than the traditional wedding.
