There are many wedding related items on which you can literally stamp with a personal touch—your programs, invitations, place cards, and table numbers are just a few of these. While there are many unique stamps available for you to purchase for your wedding, it is actually quite simple to make your own rubber stamps. You just need to start with your own design in mind such as a monogram or geometric pattern.
The easiest way to carve your own rubber stamp is to purchase a carving kit such as Speedball’s Stamp Making Kit. The kit comes with a block of rubber, carving tools, and tracing paper. If you can’t find the kit, you can buy the items separately.
First find or draw a design you want to carve. Place the tracing paper over the design and trace it. If you need a mirror image, turn the paper over and color with a pencil the areas that you want to make up the stamp. Press the paper firmly over the rubber block. The pencil markings will transfer onto the block. Using the carving tool, you can then carve away the extra rubber material to make your stamp.
There are many ways that you can use your stamp! Have guests make a design on a piece of canvas and sign their names for a guestbook that you can hang in your home.
