It’s also one of the best for wedding day cocktails.
While you may have met at a pool party or backyard BBQ and fell in love over homemade margaritas or a cooler of ice cold beer, which now such beverages hold significant meaning, they’re a little too “everyday” for such a special day. Birds and the Bees
- 1 oz reposado tequila
- .25 oz fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice
- .25 oz fresh-squeezed tangerine juice
- .5 oz honey-thyme tincture
- 2 dashes The Bitter Truth brand Creole Bitters
- Ice
- Cocktail shaker + strainer
- Coupe glass
For the tincture:
- 6 oz honey
- 2-3 fist-sized bunches of thyme plus a few fresh thyme sprigs for garnish.
Directions:
At least three hours in advance of when you’ll want to make the cocktail, you’ll need prepare the honey-thyme tincture by adding the honey to a sauce pan along with 3 ounces of water. Cook over medium heat until the water and honey have combined into a syrupy texture, then remove from heat, add the bunches of thyme and let the mixture steep for at least two and up to three hours. Then remove the thyme and refrigerate.
Combine the tequila, grapefruit juice, tangerine juice, and honey-thyme tincture in a cocktail shaker over ice and shake with vigor and enthusiasm.
Strain into a coupe glass. Finish with two dashes of the Creole Bitters and garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme.
Parkside Fizz
- 2 oz Hangar One Buddha’s Hand Vodka
- .75 oz lemon juice
- .5 oz Kassatly Chtaura brand orgeat syrup
- 8 mint leaves (plus 1 sprig for garnish)
- Approximately 1 oz club soda
- Ice
- Cocktail shaker + strainer
- Muddler
- Rocks glass
Directions:
First, chill your rocks glass by either popping it in the freezer for a few minutes, or, if you’re in a hurry, pack the glass with ice and water and let it sit while you prepare the cocktail.
In your shaker (or a pint glass), muddle mint leaves with the orgeat syrup. Then add ice, vodka, lemon juice, and club soda and shake.
Now is the time to remove your glass from the freezer or pour out the water and ice mixture. Fill the glass with fresh ice, and strain the just-slightly-fizzy cocktail into it.
Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
Aviation
- 1.5 oz Bombay Sapphire gin
- .75 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- .5 oz simple syrup*
- .25 oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
- .1 oz of Rothman & Winter Creme de Violette
- Ice
- Cocktail shaker + strainer
- Coupe glass
For the simple syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
Directions:
First, you’ll need to make simple syrup, add one cup granulated white sugar and one cup water to a saucepan and heat until sugar is dissolved. Let it cool completely before using.
Combine the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and Luxardo in a cocktail shaker over ice and shake for up to 30 seconds.
“Rinse” your coupe with the Creme de Violette by pouring it into the glass, gently swirling and tilting the glass until the Violette has coated the insides of it and discarding the excess. This will impart a marvelous indigo hue that can stand in for your ‘something blue’ in a pinch.
Strain into the coupe glass.
