December is the time of year for crisp air, candy canes, stocking stuffers and Christmas trees. It’s also the time for fiancé’s-to-be to get down on one knee and ask the question most women have dreamt of since being little girls.
Recently, several celebrities have announced they are preparing to head down the aisle. There have also been rumors of longtime lovers deciding to take the plunge. “Star Wars” director George Lucas proposed to longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson. Kelly Clarkson accepted beau Brandon Blackstock’s offer of a lifetime of love. Jennifer Aniston said yes to Justin Theroux. Brad Pitt FINALLY made the big move with a custom designed rock for Angelina Jolie. A few other happily engaged couples include: Miley Cirus and Liam Hemsworth; Keira Knightly and James Righton; Amber Rose and rapper Wiz Khalifa. Wedding rumors surround soon-to-be parents Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez and Naomi Watts and Live Schreiber.
With all these famous couples preparing to make the big move (for some it will be the second or third move) folks are wondering what the brides-to-be are going to wear. The styles of these celebs include anything from gothic to elegant. For her down-the-aisle experience with ex-hubby Billy Bob Thornton, Angelina wore a sweater and jeans. Aniston wore a Lawrence Steele gown with tiny pearls to wedding with Brad.
Brides will have plenty to choose from in shapes, styles, colors and fabrics. 2013 top trends in bridal dresses include illusion necklines (neckline to bustline is sheer material), sheer overlays, long sleeves and lace (imitating Duchess Kate’s gown), sequins and beaded detail. Although the drop-waist and mermaid gowns remain popular styles, the peplum skirt is coming back in fashion. Shirred bodices with ornate and whimsical flowers also grace many bridal designers’ gowns.
Vera Wang’s 2013 bridal collection includes an array of fiery red gowns with swirls and swirls of organza, satins and silks. Amsale’s Blue Label includes a gown with rows of large flower details. Maggie Sottero’s collection includes completely tulled dresses, the popular pick-up style skirt and figure flattering lace gowns. Christos’ collection is filled with princess style gowns detailed with beads, sashes and lace overlays.
