"Fitness - If it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body." Quote by Cher notable actress and singer.
Well, fitness may not come in a bottle like Cher said, but unfortunately diet pills do. These once thought miracle pills for weight loss without exercising are now know as killers, and can cause other major side effects in the long run too. One of the most dangerous aspects of diet pills is that they are not required by law to be tested by the FDA before they are released to the public. However, the FDA will act to remove a product from the market once it has been shown to be dangerous. It's up to the buyer to make sure he/she understands and uses the pills as they were intended. However, some people who are trying to use them as a quick fix can be inclined to over indulge on diet pills in order to try to speed up the process making it dangerous to their health instead of helpful to their waist.
Some of the known side effects of diet pill use:
- anxiety
- irritability
- insomnia
- restlessness
- hyperactivity
- high blood pressure
- palpitations
- heart attack
- congestive heart failure
- stroke
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- constipation
- stomach ache
- fever
- dry mouth
- headaches
- dizziness
- blurred vision
- sweating
- hair loss
- menstrual cycle issues
- tremors
- convulsions
- confusion
- hallucinations
- shortness of breath
- kidney failure
With all of these possible side effects and dangerous risk it makes one wonder why they are one not regulated by the FDA, and two not required to be by prescription only. The sad facts are that our youth is growing larger and they are the largest portion of the buyers/ users of these dangerous drugs. If you saw your child with a cigarette or a pot joint in his/her mouth it would concern you terribly, but these drugs are easier to access for the kids/ young adults as they just sit in a shore shelf or counter top waiting and calling to answer all their hopes and dreams. Only to give them more health issues and possibly stop their little hearts from beating forever.
The fact remains that the only true answer is diet and exercise. Watch what you put in your mouth. Keep a food diary, and park further away from the store. Don't go to the store hungry... etc ... All the things we have all heard before, but we just don't listen or complain because it is hard work or takes to long.
One last quote of the day: Anything worth having takes hard work!!!
