According to MMAWeekly.com, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) has officialy announced the featherweight bout between Sacramento’s Chad Mendes and Eric Koch for WEC 47 on March 6th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. Both fighters are undefeated and looking to make a big impact.
Chad Mendes is a member of Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male. He’s a former two-time All-American wrestler at California Polytechnic State University. Mendes began his MMA career in 2008 and currently has a 5-0 record. He was signed by the WEC last October to a multi fight deal.
Eric Koch has a professional record of 8-0 and is 1-0 in the WEC. Koch debuted for the fight promotion in December 2009 with a win over Jameel Massouh. Nicknamed “The New Breed”, Koch has 5 wins by way of submission.
Both fighters are looking to take a huge step towards the top of the stacked featherweight division. Each fighter hopes to maintain their undefeated record. It remains unknown where this fight will end up on the card. Early speculations are that this fight will be on the untelevised portion of the preliminary card.
