Webinar set to discuss improving Mid-Atlantic fishing data

How can fisherman help plan and improve Mid-Atlantic fishing data? The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC) has slated a discussion of that topic at an upcoming webinar. The council announced in the Federal Register of Monday, April 7 that it has scheduled a webinar for Monday, April 28 of its Ecosystem and Ocean Planning Committee. The webinar takes place from 1:30 to 3 pm Eastern Time. The public can listen in by telephone.

The committee will hear Rutgers and the Nature Conservancy describe their Data Portal Project, which “produces illustrative maps of Mid-Atlantic fishing activity summarized by port and gear groups,” the council explains. The committee will discuss with the groups how it can help fishermen “ review, discuss, and improve the project data and map products.”

Though the committee may discuss other matters during the webinar, it will not take action on anything else.
