Many people with disabilities who are capable of working are not finding opportunities to re-enter the workforce. Despite a decreasing unemployment rate for workers with disabilities, the unemployment rate was 70% higher in the fourth quarter of 2012 than that of people without disabilities,according to data from the Office of Disability Employment. In Illinois, the Central Management Services (CMS) Division of Examining and Counseling continues to provide several programs through its Disabled Workers Program.
As part of its ongoing initiative to increase the number of employed, qualified workers with disabilities, CMS will hold a webinar on February 27, 2013 for those who wish to seek state employment. The webinar will be accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. The state is working with public venues where job seekers can participate.
Topics will include:
- The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) Job Link Program;
- Successful Disability Opportunities (SD) Program;
- Services provided by the Division of Rehabilitation Services.
This webinar will run from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM Central Standard Time. Those interested should email Susan Allen. For further information about CMS, call (217) 524-7514 (Voice) or (800) 526-0844 (TTY).
