Longtime Channel 4 weatherman, Chuck Gaidica announced to viewers, Thursday, Jan. 30 that he is stepping down from his anchor job to become Pastor of World Outreach at a local church.

Gaidica has been with Local 4 for 27 years in total, and 17 years as the main weatherman; currently, Director of Meteorology.

The last anchor who left Detroit to go into full-time ministry was Frank Turner of WXYZ Channel 7, in 2006.

The church Gaidica attends is Oak Pointe Church of Novi. The church started in 1997; Senior Pastor is Bob Shirock, and the membership is around 3,000. Gaidica says, “It’s a cool church.”

Gaidica explains: I’ve been on a journey these last four years…I got a Masters of Art in Ministry Leadership and lived in Israel…. God picked me up by the collar… I feel a calling…

Chuck will be leaving the anchor desk the middle of August, but not the station.

He later reached out on the airways by saying that all of us have had bumps in our lives…”God can redeem you.”

He has already started his outreach by working on renovating Cody High School.

Chuck Gaidica has been a dedicated, caring and pleasant weatherman, and we wish him nothing but the best!
